General News and Notes

Seems doors to the stadium opened 1h and 25m earlier than originally posted due to the number of people waiting in line (8:35am instead of 10am). In all, 94 people waited in line over night. And by 8:10am, there were apparently 5,650 people waiting in line. By 9:00am, there was an announcement that the stadium was full.

844,000 fans attended the tournament this year.  That's up from the 812,000 fans that attended the Summer Koshien last year.

It seems team towels are selling very well at Koshien Stadium this year (helped by the hot weather). Pennants are also selling fairly well, with sales for TokaiDai Sagami, Narita, and Wase Jitsu pennants doing particularly well.

Sadaharu Oh was at Koshien Stadium for the second time this tournament. Not sure if he was there for the entire day, but he did catch the Wase Jitsu game (his alma mater).

At the end of the 5th inning, an announcement at Koshien Stadium revealed that there were 39,000 fans in attendance.  However, by 10:10am, there was another announcement informing everyone at the stadium that they had their second full house (47,000) of the tournament.
