According to a Nikkan Sports report from this morning, the Yokohama Bay Stars are closing in on a multi-year deal with Aarom Baldiris (30).  The Buffaloes left Baldiris off their list of reserved players, but were still trying to re-sign.  The Bay Stars jumped in the moment he became available because they like him as someone that can follow Tony Blanco in to the line-up.  And while they already have a number of options at third base, like Norihiro Nakamura (age concerns) and Yoshitomo Tsutsugo (slow growth), they wanted a little more stability and reliability at the position.

Softbank Hawks

According to Daily Sports, the Hawks may be close to finalizing a one-year deal with Dennis Sarfate that could be worth around 100 million yen.

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles should be able to get a firm reply from Casey McGehee within the next week or so.  Rakuten's last offer was reportedly a three-year deal worth about 500 million yen.

Source: Sports Hochi 12/4/2013

The Eagles might look into Aarom Baldiris as a possible replacement for McGehee.

Chiba Lotte Marines

The Marines are still working out a deal with Hideaki Wakui's representative.  According to Tokyo Sports, it could take a couple more weeks for the two sides to reach an agreement.  There is also a chance talks fall apart and Wakui ends up remaining in Saitama.

Source: Tokyo Sports 12/3/2013

Sanspo is also reporting that discussions between Lotte and Wakui have hit a bit of a bump.  Lotte official Nobuhira Hayashi is not overly optimistic, but also not worried.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers could be interested in Yokohama's Shugo Fujii as compensation for losing Yasutomo Kubo.

Source: Tokyo Sports 12/4/2013

ZakZak wonders if the Tigers might be interested in Norihiro Nakamura as compensation for losing Yasutomo Kubo, if he is available.  He would come cheap and he could serve as either a third baseman or a right-handed bat off the bench.  Incidentally, Nakamura is a Hanshin fan.

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars will leave the lines of communication open with Nyjer Morgan (33), but will also look into pitchers that might be available on the overseas market.  Pitching is a top priority.

GM Katsuhiro Nakamura told reporters negotiations with Yasutomo Kubo were final and that there were no plans to meet again.

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants will most likely lose two players as compensation for signing Kan Otake and Yasuyuki Kataoka.  The Carp have already expressed an interest in pursing a player plus money as compensation for losing Otake.  The Lions will most likely select a player plus money since they will not gain a lot by selecting only money and they know the Yomiuri system is stacked.

Softbank Hawks

Shinya Tsuruoka will most likely be assigned the number eight.

Seibu Lions

The Lions are reportedly interested in Alex Ramirez.  They feel he still has enough left in the tank to succeed as a DH or a right-handed bat off the bench.  They also feel he can help players out with hitting advice.  His positive attitude and popularity among fans are big pluses.

Rakuten Eagles

The Eagles have included Andruw Jones and Casey McGehee on their list of reserved players.

Darrell Rasner, Jim Heuser, Kenny Ray, and Brandon Duckworth were left off the list.

Orix Buffaloes

The Buffaloes have not given up on Aarom Baldiris (30) and plan to keep the lines of communication open.  The front office would also like a chance to talk to Baldiris directly, and not through his agent.

Source: Daily Sports 11/30/2013

Baldiris was not on the team's reserved list and will become a free agent in December.

Source: Sports Hochi 11/30/2013

According to Tokyo Sports: the Buffaloes were feeling a little down on Baldiris' defense at third and were mulling over the idea of moving him to first; Baldiris might be using the Yokohama Bay Stars as a way to get more money out of Orix;  Hiroshi Moriwaki likes Esteban German; some in the organization might be thinking that German is above Baldiris.

Softbank Hawks

One of the reasons why Kenichi Nakata selected the Hawks over the other teams was because he was worried about his mother living in along in Kitakyushu (his father passed away in 2007).

Source: Sports Hochi 11/30/2013

Seibu Lions

The Lions will most likely offer Takayuki Kishi (28) a three-year extension.  Kishi is set to earn his domestic FA option next season.

Between 1993 and 2012, eighty-nine players have moved to different teams through free agency (includes players that left the country).  Seibu lost eleven players to free agency, most among the NPB teams.  Orix has lost nine and Nippon Ham and Softbank have lost eight each.  Lotte has lost the fewest with five (Kintetsu and Rakuten have lost three each, but Kintetsu is no longer an active team and Rakuten has not been around that long).

Yokohama Bay Stars

The Bay Stars did not include Nyjer Morgan (33) on their list of reserved players since they have not yet been able to agree to terms with him.  He will become a free agent in December.  The Bay Stars will continue to keep the lines of communication open.

Source: Sponichi 11/30/2013

This could explain the rumors that Yokohama is interested in Aarom Baldiris.

Hanshin Tigers

GM Katsuhiro Nakamura could meet with Yasutomo Kubo (33) again early next week.  They have no intention of increasing their offer financially, but could make concessions in other areas.
