The Dragons practice game against the Yakult Swallows at Nagoya Stadium was canceled due to poor ground conditions.

Morimichi Takagi told reporters on Tuesday that he felt Takeshi Yamasaki was a better quality hitter than Tony Blanco.  And Blanco has not been able to prove otherwise because of a bad lower bad.

Akifumi Takahashi (coming back from left shoulder problems) and Enyelbert Soto (coming back from lower back pain) tossed batting practice at Nagoya Stadium today.

Yamasaki does not plan on changing his intro music: Diamond Yukai's Babe-na Takeshi.

This post will be updated throughout the day.

Today's game against the Hanwha Eagles:

Yudai Kawai started the game and did not allow a run or hit through 3 innings of work.

Joel Guzman was the starting DH and batting 4th.  He hit a homer to right in his third at bat in the 5th.

===

Akifumi Takahashi (left shoulder) played catch at a distance of about 60 meters today.  He told reporters he wasn't sure if he'd be ready to throw a bullpen session during spring camp (ends on 2/27).

===

Daisuke Yamai, Kenichi Nakata, and Maximo Nelson will most likely be in the starting rotation.  That leaves 2-3 spots open for other pitchers like Kenta Asakura, Yudai Kawai, Soma Yamauchi, Shinji Iwata, and Takashi Ogasawara.

Kazuki Yoshimi, Wei-Ying Chen, and Masahiro Yamamoto aren't included in the list since they most likely won't start the season on the active roster.

And speaking of Yamamoto, if he manages to toss a bullpen session before the end of February, the earliest he'd be ready by is probably some time in April.
