[12/6/2014] Orix Buffaloes add Bullington, Blanco; Dickson, Maestri, German to return

The Orix Buffaloes announced that they reached agreements with Bryan Bullington (34) and Tony Blanco (34). Bullington was assigned the number 27, Blanco the number 42.

The Buffaloes also finalized terms with Brandon Dickson (30), Alessandro Maestri (29), and Esteban German (36).

The media is reporting that Bullington agreed to a one-year deal worth 150 million yen and Blanco a two-year deal worth 500 million yen. Maestri signed a one-year deal worth thirty million yen. German and Dickson will be in the final years of two-year deals -- German's deal is worth 100 million yen and Dickson's sixty million yen.

Hanshin Tigers

  • Shinobu Fukuhara (right adductor) pitched in a Ni-gun rehab game against Yomiuri on Saturday. He entered the game in the 7th and retired the side in order. He threw fourteen pitches and struck out one. He could join the Ichi-gun team in time for the Rakuten series at kobo Stadium that begins on the 3rd. Source: Sanspo 6/1/2014, Sponichi 6/1/2014 ... Yakult Swallows

  • Wladimir Balentien reportedly tweaked his left Achilles tendon while running the bases in the 1st inning of Sunday's game against Softbank. He was replaced on defense in the 8th. Source: Sponichi 6/1/2014

Softbank Hawks

  • Akira Nakamura was hurt in Sunday's game against Yakult. Yuhei Nakamura hit a ball to left in the 7th inning. The ball bounced off the wall and struck Nakamura in the face. He came out of the game and was taken to the hospital. He was diagnosed with a bruise on his right cheek. He is having some difficulty seeing because of swelling in the area. Orix Buffaloes

  • Yoshio Itoi fouled a ball off his mouth during his at bat in the 1st inning of Sunday's game against the Yomiuri Giants and suffered a cut on his lower lip.  He was removed from the game and taken to the hospital. Source: Sanspo 6/1/2014, Daily Sports 6/1/2014 ... Itoi needed three stitches to close the cut on his lip. He is considered day-to-day. Source: Sports Hochi 6/1/2014 ... With a runner on second and one out in the 1st, Itoi hit a ball that bounced off an area near home plate and struck him in the face.   • Motoki Higa and Alessandro Maestri were taken off the active roster on Sunday. Higa started feeling pain in his left knee on Friday night. [12/6/2013] Orix Buffaloes sign Esteban German, extend Brandon Dickson and Alessandro Maestri

The Orix Buffaloes announced today that they signed Esteban German (35) to a two-year contract.  No word yet on the value of the contract.

The Buffaloes plan to use German at third base.

[UPDATE @ 9:55pm]

The Buffaloes announced that signed Brandon Dickson (29) and Alessandro Maestri (28) to extensions.  Dickson agreed to a two-year deal worth an estimated sixty million yen and Maestri a one-year deal worth an estimated twenty million yen.

German reportedly signed a two-year deal worth an estimated 100 million yen plus incentives.

Nippon Ham Fighters

The Fighters are looking to bring Kazuyuki Shirai back as an Ichi-gun INF/base-running/strategy coach.

Seibu Lions

The Lions could lose up to six players over the next two years: Hideaki Wakui and Yasuyuki Kataoka earned their domestic FA options this year and could leave this winter; Ginjiro Sumitani and Takayuki Kishi should earn their domestic FA options next year; Takeya Nakamura's three-year contract and Takumi Kuriyama's two-year contract will end after the 2014 season (both have options).

Orix Buffaloes

Of the ten foreign players the Buffaloes carried on the active roster this year, only four will have spaces waiting for them in 2004: Brandon DicksonAlessandro Maestri, Aarom Baldiris, and Dae-Ho Lee.  Depending on how negotiations go, Baldiris and Lee may not be with the team next year.

The Buffaloes are in the final stages of selecting an Ichi-gun batting coach.  Ni-gun batting coach Hirotoshi Kitagawa is among the candidates.  A final decision is expected before the start of fall camp in Kochi on November 1.
