The All-Japan University team returned to Japan today -- they arrived at Narita Airport and appeared to be in good spirits.

Tomoyuki Sugano told reporters, "They gave up a nice round of applause regardless of where we were playing.  It seemed like they all enjoyed watching baseball.  It's where baseball was born. ... I felt like I wanted to play in the US again.  Of course, sometime in the future."

USA manager Tim Jamieson had the following to say about the tournament and about Fujioka and Sugano:

[Japan] is a fundamentally sound team.  They're very good at advancing runners. There are lot of things we can learn from them. ... #17 (Fujioka) and #18 (Sugano) left a lasting impression.  They were able to throw all their pitches for strikes and were capable of racking up the strikeouts.  I'd love for them to come play in the US.
