[8/30/2014] 18U Samurai Japan plays practice game against Kansai University

  • The game took place at the Hagitani Athletic Park Baseball Stadium in Osaka.
  • The university team was primarily made up of first- and second-year students.
  • Kona Takahashi started the game and tossed three perfect innings. He threw twenty-nine pitches, topped out at 146km/h, struck out one, induced five ground ball outs, and recorded three fly ball outs.
  • Relievers: Daichi Yamashiro gave up a run over three innings; Junichiro Kishi a run over two innings; and Satoshi Iizuka one shutout inning.
  • Kazuma Oakamoto was the starting designated hitter and batted clean-up.  He went 3-for-4 with two RBI, including a double and triple.
  • Eighteen scouts from nine teams, including Yomiuri and Hanshin, were at the game.

Samurai Japan held workouts at the Kinki University field in Ikoma, Nara for about three hours on Saturday morning. They left for Bangkok Thailand later in the day out of Kansai Kokusai Airport.  Kona Takahashi will most likely start the first game of the tournament on September 1.

  • The game took place in Ikoma, Nara.
  • The university team was primarily made up of first- and second-year students.
  • Kona Takahashi started the game and gave up three runs on five hits over 3.2 innings of work.  He threw seventy-eight pitches, walked two, hit one, struck out four, and topped out at 149km/h.
  • Kazuya Ojima relieved Takahashi and did not allow a run over 4.1 innings.  He did give up three hits.
  • With the bases loaded in the 8th, Ryoya Kurihara (catcher, batted seventh) recorded a three-run double.  Kurihara has been named captain of the team.
  • Kazuma Oakamoto (designated hitter, batted fourth) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
  • Twenty-seven scouts from eleven NPB teams, including Hanshin and Rakuten, were at the game.

[8/25/2014] Samurai Japan: 18U Asia Championship, National Team Roster

Samurai Japan unveiled the official 18U National Team roster today.  They also posted portions of the BFA 18U Asia Championship schedule.  The tournament will take place in Bangkok, Thailand between September 1 and 6.

  • Japan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, China

  • Korea, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Pakistan

[6/24/2014] Samurai Japan announcements for 12U, 15U, 18U national teams

Samurai Japan announced today that Tomohisa Nishi will manage the 12U national team at the 8th BFA 12U Asia Championship later this year in August.  They will also be accepting "digital tryouts" between June 24 and July 15. Additional information about the tryouts can found at the official site.

The roster for the IBAF 15U Baseball World Cup was posted on Monday and can be found at the official site. The tournament will take place between July 31 and August 10 in Mexico.
