Tsuyoshi Nishioka wants to do more running on the base paths this season.  He did not get the chance to run very often last year because coaches were concerned about his left knee.  It forced some of the hitters behind him to sacrifice their at bats.  He feels it will be important for him to regain trust and confidence among the coaches early on by showing that he can run at full speed (for stealing and for hit-and-run plays).

Hanshin Tigers

Daiki Enokida started a Ni-gun game against Softbank today.  He tossed a shutout inning while allowing one hit before he was pulled with some discomfort in his left elbow.  The Tigers were planning to give him an Ichi-gun start against the Yomiuri Giants on July 3, but may now have to consider other alternatives.

Nikkan Sports notes that the discomfort may not have been too serious and that the decision to pull him from the game may have been based on a number of issues, like poor field conditions due to rain and wanting to play it safe since he had surgery on his left elbow last September.
