The Rakuten Eagles announced today that they released Ikusei players Edgar Lara and Rafael Polo. According to the reports, the two players asked the team to terminate their contracts.
"This was a result of problems that stemmed from differences in living conditions and customs. We considered their futures and decided to accept their request," said a team spokesperson.
The two players were signed to Ikusei deals after attending tryouts during fall camp last year. The organization wanted them to get used to life in Japan and did not assign them an interpreter. The two struggled to make the necessary adjustments.
