Sponichi: Orix Buffaloes close to signing a deal with Evan MacLane

According to Sponichi, the Orix Buffaloes are close to agreeing to a deal with 28-year-old LHP Evan MacLane.  An announcement of a deal could be made soon, perhaps in early January.

MacLane was drafted by the New York Mets in 2003 and traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2006 for Shawn Green (and cash).  In 2009, the Dbacks sent MacLane to St. Louis for cash considerations.  MacLane was then granted free agency on 10/5/2010.

The Buffaloes apparently feel that MacLane can find success in the NPB because he mixes in a  lot of off-speed pitches.
