Yomiuri Giants

Shuichi Murata took an HBP off his left side during Tuesday's game against the Yakult Swallows.  He started today's game against Yakult on the bench as a precaution.  He made it into the game on defense in the top of the 9th and hit a single to center in the bottom half of the inning.

"There is a little discomfort, but it will be fine since I was able to play.  Things are getting better," Murata said.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuki Saito (right shoulder) on his start against the Orix Buffaloes tonight:

I was able to get up onto the mound without getting nervous.  My control was not where I wanted it to be.  I know what I need to work on.  I was able to throw freely without worrying about my shoulder at all.  I think things will be fine if I can increase the number of pitches I am happy with.  The cheering from the fans was a big help.

Hideki Kuriyama on the Saito:

It is as everyone was able to see.  This is more than the results.  He has really been through a lot.

He was also surprised.  I think he has done a good job.  This is an important time for him.  This should carry over to next season.

Eiichi Koyano was removed on defense in the 4th inning of tonight's game against the Orix Buffaloes because of cramps in both his hamstrings.
