[6/3/2014] Seibu Lions: Hideto Asamura nursing left knee injury since May

by on Jun.03, 2014 @ 3:37 pm, under NPB
Tags: ,

According to a report by Sports Hochi, Hideto Asamura has been nursing a left knee injury since May 21.  It was during a play in the 9th inning of a game against the Yomiuri Giants.  Asamura was running toward shallow right on a fly hit by Shuichi Murata.  He gloved the ball but dropped it as he attempted to avoid a collision with right fielder Fumikazu Kimura.  He said he was fine after the play but he started feeling pain in his left knee a few days later.  He was pulled early from a game against Hanshin on May 29 and switched over to a swing without kick because he could not raise his left leg.  He has been playing through the pain.

Asamura rested on Monday.  The Lions considered taking him off the active roster today, but as of now, his status is unchanged.
