One of the first phrases Luis Cruz learned from Ichiro Suzuki when they were teammates last year was onaka itai, or my stomach hurts.  He also learned ogenkidesuka! (are you healthy! or are you okay!) and ohayo (good morning).

Tomoya Satozaki and Kazuya Fukuura both worked out at QVC Marine today.

Satozaki's workouts included playing catch, long toss, fielding practice, and BP.  Satozaki changed his diet this winter in an attempt to create a body that can withstand playing a full season.  He is also just four shy of 100 career home runs.

Fukuura told reporters he wanted to improve his batting average this season and will be using a bat that is about 10 grams heavier (between 900 to 910 grams) than what he used last year.  He also expressed an interest to play first.

Kazuya Fukuura met the Marines front office today and signed a 3-year extension worth a total 300M yen plus incentives.  Fukuura is currently 318 hits away from 2,000 and has a chance to reach the milestone in his third year.

In other team news:

For the second year in a row, Ikuhiro Kiyota will take part in the Marines' first sale of the year at the Marines' Shop at Chiba Marine Stadium on 1/2/2011.

It seems the Chiba Lotte Marines won't have a captain next season, at least that's what Toshiaki Imae thinks.  Tsuyoshi Nishioka was captain for the 2010 season.
