Head / batting coach Koichi Tabuchi appeared to be pleased with what he saw during his first day at fall camp yesterday.

"We've got a blank canvas and I think we can do a lot here.  I'm looking forward to this. ... In the group of players I watched today, Teppei, Ryo Hijirisawa, and Akihisa Makida seem like interesting cases.  You can add Kensuke Uchimura, Shoji Ohiro, and Wataru Nishimura also drew my eye.  We don't have a power hitter in the line-up, so we need to work on stringing hits together," said Tabuchi.

Senichi Hoshino is hoping to get Kohei Hasebe back on track.  The Eagles have had high hopes for Hasebe ever since they drafted him back in 2007.  Hiroshi Katayama is apparently another player Hoshino has his eyes on.  Katayama was used mostly out of the pen this season, but Hoshino is hoping he might be able to contribute to the starting rotation next year.

Incidentally, it seems Hoshino won't be putting on an Eagles' uniform until spring camp.
