The Yomiuri Giants announced that they reached an agreement with former Lotte Luis Cruz.

According to Tokyo Sports, the two sides agreed on a two-year deal worth a total four million US dollars. He is expected to get the uniform number 11.

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced today that they finalized 2015 contracts with Carlos Rosa (30) and Luis Cruz (30). Rosa agreed to a deal worth an estimated sixty-five million yen (down ten million), Cruz to a deal worth an estimated eighty-five million yen (up ten million).

  • Tony Blanco hurt the back of his right thigh while running the bases in the 5th inning of Thursday's game against Hanshin. He will be examined at a hospital on Friday. Source: Sponichi 9/25/2014

Yakult Swallows

  • Tony Barnette was examined at a hospital in Tokyo on Thursday and diagnosed with an injury to his left abdominal oblique that will require two to three weeks for a full recovery.   • Ryota Arai (lower back) took seventy-three swings during batting practice at Naruohama on Tuesday and hit three over the fence. He also took fielding practice at third base. Source: Sanspo 9/24/2014
  • Ryota Imanari (right side) started taking grounders at third base during workouts at Naruohama on Tuesday. The session lasted about twenty minutes. He told reporters he was at fifty to sixty percent. Source: Sanspo 9/24/2014

  • The Hawks announced on Wednesday that Shinsuke Tobo will undergo reconstructive surgery on the medial collateral ligament in his left elbow on Thursday.   • Tsuyoshi Nishioka took outdoor batting practice at Koshien on Saturday for the first time since he suffered multiple injuries from a collision play in March.  He took his swings from the left side of the plate.   • Tadashi Settsu started a Ni-gun game against Hanshin on Wednesday.  He gave up a run on two hits over four innings of work.  He threw fifty-six pitches and topped out at 142km/h.  This was his first outing since he was taken off the active roster on the 10th with a tired right shoulder.  He might be able to return to the active roster some time next week.   • Tsuyoshi Nishioka played catch while maxing out the distance to about forty-five meters and then shortening down to around twenty during workouts on Monday.  He took twenty-five swings from the left and twenty from the right during soft-toss batting practice.  He also took forty-four swings against a pitching machine.   • Luis Cruz was removed from Tuesday's game against the Hanshin Tigers after he was hit by a pitch thrown by Shintaro Fujinami in the 7th.  The ball hit Cruz in the area near in left wrist.  The pain was so bad he could not make it to first.  He was taken to a hospital in Nishinomiya for an examination. [12/14/2013] Chiba Lotte Marines come to terms with Chad Huffman

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced today that they came to terms with twenty-eight-year-old outfielder Chad Huffman.  The two sides reportedly agreed to a one-year deal worth an estimated 150,000 US dollars plus incentives.  He has been assigned the number fifty-six.

The Marines also announced that they assigned Luis Cruz the number forty-seven.
