He became the first Fighter to record a shutout with at least ten strikeouts since Yu Darvish tossed a shutout and struck out fifteen against Seibu on October 11, 2011. The shutout gave Otani nine victories and made him the first Fighter to win nine games before the end of June since Darvish in 2011. Source: Sanspo 6/25/2015 ... Otani picked up his first victory against Lotte on June 24. He has recorded wins against nine different teams, other than Yomiuri and Yakult. Source: Nikkan Sports 6/25/2015 ... Kuriyama might bench Otani against pitchers he struggles against. For example, against Seibu, Kuriyama could sit Otani when Ken Togame (0-for-6 with five strikeouts) and Yusei Kikuchi (difficulty hitting left-handed pitchers) start games. "It's something to think about with that kind of hitting. I think it's best to look at the numbers realistically. Afterall, we're already halfway through [the season]. ... We're not doing this so he can do two things (hit and pitch). We're doing this to win," said Kuriyama. Source: Sponichi 6/26/2015, Daily Sports 6/26/2015, Nikkan Sports 6/26/2015
