  • Hideki Kuriyama is still concerned about Shohei Otani's condition and wants to maintain some flexibility when it comes to his pitching schedule. He does not want to be too lenient, and will most likely switch Otani's starts back and forth from six to seven days of rest, depending on condition. That could give the pitcher a shot at pitching and hitting in the same game during the Inter-league Hanshin series that begins on June 5 at Koshien.
