Hiroyuki Nakajima (32) has been narrowing down his options while conducting negotiations with teams. The Hanshin Tigers recently confirmed with Nakajima's agent that they were still in the hunt. Yohei Oshima (29) could end up going through salary arbitration as the Chunichi Dragons do not appear interested in making an adjustment to their initial offer. Oshima and Ryosuke Hirata (26) are not planning to agree to their current offers and are willing to take things to salary arbitration. [12/20/2013] Seibu Lions announce additions of Bowden, Reynolds, Ransom, and Lopez

The Seibu Lions announced today that they came to terms with four new foreign players: Michael Bowden (27), Greg Reynolds (28), Cody Ransom  (37), and Porfirio Lopez (23).

Bowden signed a one-year deal worth an estimated 800,000 US dollars and was assigned the number twenty-six.  He is a candidate to close.  Reynolds signed a one-year deal worth an estimated 800,000 US dollars and was assigned the number forty-two.  He is a candidate for the starting rotation.  Ransom signed a one-year deal worth an estimated 900,000 US dollars and was assigned the number six.  Lopez signed an Ikusei contract worth an estimated 60,000 US dollars and was assigned the number 122.

Randy Williams and Abner Abreu (Ikusei contract) will also be returning next season.

Hiroshima Carp

Shota Dobayashi (fracture in third metacarpal in left hand) played in a rehab practice game against Softbank on Tuesday.  It was his first game since he suffered his injury.  He went 0-for-3.

Hanshin Tigers

Ryota Arai took an HBP off the back of his left hand during his at bat in the 6th inning of Tuesday's game against the Chunichi Dragons.  He was replaced by a pinch-runner and sent to the hospital for an examination.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Nyjer Morgan suffered a bruise on his right wrist after taking an HBP off of it during a game against Yakult on September 19.  He was taken off the active roster on September 21.

Morgan left Japan out of Narita Airport earlier today.  Before leaving, he told reporters he would like to return to Yokohama next year.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Sho Nakata (left pinky fissure fracture) returned to the active roster today.

"He is at about seventy percent.  The bone has not fully healed.  There is a risk in him playing," the chief trainer said.

Nakata did not make the starting line-up tonight.

Takashi Ogino was diagnosed with a strain in his right biceps femoris muscle during a hospital examination on Tuesday.  He will require about three weeks for a full recovery.  He was taken off the active roster on the same day.

Hanshin Tigers

Shinobu Fukuhara was taken off the active roster today because of tightness in his lower back.  The Tigers expect Fukuhara to return to the active roster in the minimum ten days.

Kosuke Fukudome (left knee) may not be able to return to the active roster until, at the earliest, June.  His workouts on Tuesday included upper body and shoulder exercises and about twenty minutes of running in a therapy pool.  Fukudome will not be able to begin regular roadwork training until the pain in his left knee goes away.  Until then, he will have to continue pool therapy.

The Seibu Lions announced today that they signed Ryan Spilborghs and Dennis Sarfate to contracts.  They also announced that Randy Williams will be returning in 2013.  No other information is known at this time.

Seibu Lions' team director Haruhiko Suzuki spoke to reporters today and said the team was close to re-signing Jose Ortiz (35), Esteban German (34), and Randy Williams (37) to contracts for the 2013 season.

Kazuhisa Makita and Fumiya Nishiguchi worked out at Seibu 2 Stadium on Monday.  Both are scheduled to pitch in Tuesday's Ni-gun game against the Yomiuri Giants.

The Lions decided on Sunday to send 1st round draft pick Ken Togame and 2nd round draft pick Hirotaka Koishi to Ni-gun for more work.  Randy Williams will also begin the year at Ni-gun.

Takayuki Kishi's first regular season start could come on April 1 against the Nippon Ham Fighters at Sapporo Dome.

The Lions had their send-off celebration todayAbout 3,560 fans attended the event.

The players will head to Miyazaki on January 31.

The Lions held a press conference for Chris Carter, Esteban German, Randy Williams, and Micheal Nakamura today.

Williams is a candidate to close for the team.

Carter's educational background (like Nikkan Sports and Sanspo) is making some waves in the media: graduated from  Stanford University in three years; has a father, brother, and uncle that are all doctors and a second brother that is a pilot.

The Lions will begin accepting designs for a uniform they will wear during a number of home games in August on February 1.  Children up through Junior High are eligible.  The deadline for submissions is February 20.
