Pacific League releases Climax Series schedule

The Pacific League released the basis schedules for the Climax Series this year.

Here are the schedules for both leagues:

Pacific League

  • Climax Series First Stage - October 12-14
  • Climax Series Final Stage - October 17-22
  • Nippon Series begins on October 26

Central League

  • Climax Series First Stage - October 12-14
  • Climax Series Final Stage - October 16-21
  • Nippon Series begins on October 26

2013 Western League Schedules Released

The Western League released their 2013 schedules today.

Each team faces each other 26 times for a total 104 games. Games above 104 are from the Inter-league schedule.

Here is the breakdown of the schedule (includes Inter-league games):

The Eastern League released their 2013 schedules on Tuesday.

Each team faces each other 18 times for a total 108 games. Games above 108 are from the Inter-league schedule.

Complete 2013 Pacific League Schedules Released

The Pacific League posted their final schedules for the 2013 season today.

Some notes on the schedule:

  • Opening day will begin with three night games: Seibu - Nippon Ham at 6:00pm; Lotte - Orix at 6:15pm, and Softbank - Rakuten at 6:30pm.  The last time all scheduled start times were different on opening day: 2001.  The last time all opening day games took place at night: 1988.
  • The Eagles will play two weekday day games: April 3 and 4 against Orix, both games scheduled to start at 2:00pm.  The last time the Eagles played day games on the weekend: April 3 and 4 in 2012.
  • Night games have been scheduled at Asahikawa Starffin Stadium (a first): June 2 and 3 between Nippon Ham and Yokohama; and August 13 and 14 between Nippon Ham and Orix.  All games scheduled to start at 6:00pm.
  • Eighteen games, involving four home teams (Seibu, Lotte, Rakuten, Orix) will have 5:00pm start times.
  • Home away from home games: Nippon Ham 15 (+1), Rakuten 5 (-1), Seibu 3 (-2), Lotte 0 (0), Orix 15 (9), Softbank 5 (0) - a total 43 games (-2).  Numbers in parentheses indicates change from 2012 season.
  • The schedule for the Climax Series has not yet been determined.

Complete 2013 Central League Schedules Released

The Central League posted their final schedules for the 2013 season today.

Some notes on the schedule:

  • There are two fewer day games this year than last (from 109 to 107).
  • The following games are still TBA (nine games): YOM-YAK (2), YOM-HIR, YAK-YOM, YAK-YOK, YAK-HAN, CHU-YOK, CHU-HAN, HAN-CHU.  Details will be release in August 2013.

Central League posts preliminary 2013 schedule

The Central League posted their preliminary schedule for the 2013 season today.

Some notes on the schedule:

  • One team will play 144 games
    • Against CL teams: 60 home games and 60 road games. 24 games against each team.
    • Against PL teams: 12 home games and 12 road games. 4 games against 6 PL teams.
    • There will be 360 Central League games and 144 Inter-league games.
  • Opening Day
    • will feature 3 games on 3/29 - Yokohama @ Chunichi, Hanshin @ Yakult, Hiroshima @ Yomiuri
    • Home teams will be the teams that finished in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in 2011: Chunichi, Yakult, Yomiuri
  • Games that have yet to be scheduled
    • Yakult vs Yomiuri (2), Hiroshima vs Yomiuri, Yomiuri vs Yakult, Yokohama vs Yakult, Hanshin vs Yakult, Yokohama vs Chunichi, Hanshin vs Chunichi, Chunichi vs Hanshin.
  • Climax Series Schedule
    • Not yet set

The Pacific League posted their preliminary schedule for the 2013 season today.

Some notes on the schedule:

  • Nippon Ham @ Rakuten will be played at Shogin & Nissin Stadium Yamagata on August 20.  It will be the first PL game in Yamagata since 4/26/2005 (Orix @ Rakuten).
  • The top three teams from the 2010 season will play their games at home on opening day.  Opening day: Rakuten @ Softbank; Nippon Ham @ Seibu; and Orix @ Lotte.
  • One team will play 144 games

2013 Inter-league to begin on May 14; Nippon Series on October 26

The NPB made announcements about the 2013 schedules for the Inter-league and Nippn Series.

Inter-league play will take place between May 14 and June 16.  The first day will kick off with the following six match-ups (I will post the initial schedule a little later):

Chiba vs Yomiuri
Seibu vs Yakult
Rakuten vs Yokohama
Nippon Ham vs Chunichi
Orix vs Hanshin
Softbank vs Hiroshima

A total 144 games will be played, with each team facing one another four times (two home/two road).  The CL will begin with two home series, followed by two road series at PL stadiums.  This will be repeated two more times.

The 2013 Nippon Series (Konami Nippon Series 2013) will take place between October 26 and November 3 at the Pacific League's home stadium.
