[11/7/2014] 2014 Preliminary Pacific League Schedule

The Pacific League posted their preliminary schedule for the 2015 season today.

Some notes on the schedule:

  • The top three teams from the 2012 season will play their games at home on opening day. Rakuten at Nippon Ham, Orix at Seibu, Lotte at Softbank.
  • One team will play 143 games
    • 125 Pacific League games and 18 Inter-league games
    • Teams will either player 72 or 71 games at home (63 or 62 home PL games and nine home IL games)
    • Nippon Ham, Seibu, and Softbank will play 72 at home in 2015. Rakuten, Lotte, and Orix will play 72 at home in 2016
    • See Table 1 for more information
  • Home away from home games: See Table 2

The Central League posted their preliminary schedule for the 2015 season today.

Some notes on the schedule:

  • One team will play 143 games
    • 125 Central League games and 18 Inter-league games
    • Three teams will play 63 games at home and 62 games on the road (Yakult, Chunichi, Hanshin)
    • The other three teams will play 62 games at home and 63 on the road (Yomiuri, Yokohama, Hiroshima)
    • The teams that played 63 games at home this year, will play 62 games at home next year. The teams that played 62 games at home this year, will play 63 games at home next year.

[11/5/2014] 2015 Preliminary Inter-league Schedule Released

Notes about the schedule (November 5 update):

  • Opening Day will feature six games: Seibu at Yomiuri, Nippon Ham at Yakult, Orix at Yokohama, Softbank at Chunichi, Rakuten vs Hanshin, Lotte vs Hiroshima.
  • One team will play eighteen games, nine at home and nine on the road (there will be a total 108 games)
  • Each team will play three games on the road or at home against each of the six teams in the other league. The team that gets the home games in 2015 will get the road games in 2016.
  • Games that get rained out will either be played on the available make-up date, or between June 15 and 18.

The Western League released their 2014 schedules on Wednesday.

Five teams will play twenty-six game against one another for a total 104 games.

The Eastern League released their 2014 schedules today.

Seven teams will each play eighteen games against one another for a total 108 games.

[1/24/2014] Complete 2014 Pacific League Schedules Released

The Pacific League posted their final schedules for the 2014 season today.

Some notes on the schedule:

  • Opening day will be on March 28.  The match-ups will be Rakuten vs Seibu (6:00pm), Orix vs Nippon Ham (6:15pm), and Lotte vs Softbank (6:30pm).   The home teams are the top three teams in the standings from the 2011 season.  The last time Nippon Ham and Orix (Hankyu) were matched against each other on opening day was in 1996.  The last time Nippon Ham played host was in 1983.
  • There will be weekday day games on:
    • April 2 and 3: Orix vs Rakuten at Kobo Stadium @ 2:00pm and Seibu vs Lotte at QVC Marine @ 2:00pm
    • May 13: Seibu vs Nippon Ham at Hakodate @ 1:00pm
    • August 5 and 6: Orix vs Nippon Ham at Obihiro @ 1:00pm
  • There will be four teams that play games that start at 5:00pm:
    • Seibu at Seibu Dome: July 21, July 26-27, August 16-17, August 30-31
    • Lotte at QVC Marine: July 6, August 10, August 24, September 7
    • Rakuten at Kobo Stadium: July 27, August 3, August 10, August 17, August 31
    • Orix at Kyocera Dome and Hotto Kobe: May 5, September 23
  • The schedule for the Climax Series has not yet been determined.

Notes About the Schedule:

  • Opening Day
    • will feature six games: Chunichi @ Nippon Ham, Yokohama @ Rakuten, Yomiuri @ Seibu, Yakult @ Lotte, Hanshin @ Orix, Hiroshima @ Softbank
    • all games will be night games
  • One team will play twenty-four games
    • Against teams in each league: two home games, two road games. Four games each team.
    • There will be a total 144 games.
    • Home teams will swap back and forth, beginning with the Pacific League at home for two series and then the Central League at home for two series
  • Games that are rained out will either be played on the available rain dates, or between June 23 and 26. Depending on the series, make-up games could also be scheduled on June 20.
