Seibu Lions Senryokugai – October 7, 2014

The Seibu Lions announced on Tuesday that they informed Hironori Matsunaga (30) on Monday that they were not going to offer him a contract for the 2015 season.

The Lions also announced that Fumiya Nishiguchi (40) will continue to play next season. Nishiguchi is eighteen wins away from 200 career victories.

Chiba Lotte Marines Senryokugai – October 5, 2014

The Chiba Lotte Marines have announced that they will not offer new contracts to the following players:

  • Ogino, Tadahiro P (32)
  • Fujiya, Shuhei P (27)
  • Heiuchi, Hisao INF (33)
  • Sato, Takahiko OF (36)
  • Kobe, Takumi OF (29)
  • Sumi, Kota INF (23)
  • Kishi, Keisuke P-Ikusei (27)

Ogino, Fujiya, Kobe, Sumi, and Kishi all wish to play next year. Sato and Heiuchi are undecided.

The following coaches will not be returning next season:

  • Ni-gun pitching coach Akio Saito (59)
  • Ichi-gun battery coach Takeshi Nakamura (47)
  • Ichi-gun pitching coach Kenjiro Kawasaki (43)

The Yokohama Bay Stars have informed the following players they will not be offered contracts for the 2015 season:

  • Kikuchi, Kazumasa P (32)
  • Kamiuchi, Yasushi P (31)
  • Makka, Takayuki P (23)
  • Ito, Takuro P (21)
  • Tomita, Kosuke P (26)
  • Komura, Toru P-Ikusei (20)
  • Samura, Travis Mikihisa P-Ikusei (20)
  • Nakamura, Norihiro INF (41)

Nakamura, Fujii, and Kikuchi are still interested in playing next year. Nakamura has drawn some interest from Chunichi. Fujii is planning to attend the twelve team tryouts in November. Kikuchi had his right shoulder cleaned on Thursday and will prepare for possible tryouts during spring camp next year.

The following coaches will not be returning next year:

  • Ni-gun pitching coach/head Ikusei coach Katsunori Okamoto (41)
  • Ni-gun Ikusei coach Misao Takaura (62)

  • Jimbo, Takahiro OF (27)

Jimbo is planning to retire. The other four players are still undecided.

Yomiuri Giants Senryokugai – October 1, 2014

The Yomiuri Giants announced on Wednesday that they will not be renewing contracts for the following players:

  • Ochi, Daisuke P (31)
  • Takagi, Yasunari P-Ikusei (32)
  • Mori, Kazuki P-Ikusei (21)
  • Shibata, Shogo P-Ikusei (25)
  • Amemiya, Takashi P-Ikusei (27)
  • Ogino, Takayuki P-Ikusei (26)
  • Wada, Ryota P-Ikusei (22)

Ochi was offered a job within the organization, but turned it down because he still wants to play.

The Giants also announced a coaching staff change on Thursday. Ni-gun hitting coach Yukio Arai (49) will not be returning next season. Yomiuri will offer the open position to former Hiroshima Ni-gun manager Junzo Uchida (67).

Hanshin Tigers Senryokugai – October 1, 2014

The Hanshin Tigers announced on Wednesday that they were not going to sign the following players to contract for the 2015 season:

  • Yoshimi, Yuji P (36)
  • Takayama, Hisashi OF (32)
  • Nishimura, Ken P (27)
  • Sakaguchi, Tetsuya INF-Ikusei (22)

Nishimura is planning to attend twelve team tryouts in November.

Additionally, the media learned on Wednesday/Thursday that Tomoyuki Kubota (33) is planning to retire after the season because he was unable to make a satisfactory comeback from right elbow surgery. He is expected to hold a press conference to announce his decision in the coming days.
