The Swallows announced on Friday that Shohei Tateyama had surgery at a hospital in Tatebayashi, Gunma to fix another tear in the medial collateral ligament in his right elbow.  He will most likely require a year for a full recovery.

Tateyama had reconstructive surgery on his right elbow in April last year.  He was in the process of making his way back to the active roster when he felt discomfort in the elbow during rehab games on February 25 and April 5.  Doctors found the new tear while removing the outer portion of synovial fold on the 10th.  The tear was fixed during the procedure.  The flexor tendon in his forearm also had to be sutured.
