Rakuten Eagles

  • The Marines are designating the Mizuno billboard out toward left as a home run target worth one million yen to any right-handed batter that can hit it.  Left-handed batters will be given two million yen. Softbank Hawks

Orix Buffaloes

  • Hiromoto Okubo is thinking about giving 1st round draft pick Yuki Matsui another chance at making the starting rotation after the All-Star break.  He could get a start during a Seibu series that begins on the 21st at Seibu Dome. Source: Sponichi 7/16/2014, Daily Sports 7/16/2014
  • On Tuesday, the Eagles almost became the fifth team to toss a no-hitter while allowing one or more runs, first since Kintetsu on May 13, 1964. Source: Sponichi 7/16/2014 ... Chiba Lotte Marines

Seibu Lions

  • Jason Standridge hit three batters during the 3rd inning of Monday's game against Lotte (Daichi Suzuki, Toshiaki Imae, and Craig Brazell) and tied the NPB record for HBPs in one inning.  He became the eighth player in NPB history to hit three batters in one inning, first since Shinji Tajima on July 4, 2014; and the fifth player in Pacific League history, first since Takashi Ishii on April 17, 2004. Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Seiichi Uchikawa recorded his 1,500th career hit in the 1st inning of Friday's game against the Nippon Ham Fighters and became the 116th player in NPB history to reach the milestone.  Toru Hosokawa notched his 250th career sac hit in the 8th inning of the same game and became the fifteenth player in NPB history to reach the milestone. Orix Buffaloes

  • Wily Mo Pena became the first player in the Pacific League to hit twenty home runs this season during Thursday's game against the Softbank Hawks.  He also became the seventh player in franchise history to reach twenty before anyone else in the league, first since Dae-Ho Lee in 2012.  He joined Daryl Spencer (1965), Wayne Cage (1982), and Lee as the only foreign players in franchise history to achieve the feat.
