Softbank Hawks

  • Softbank is exploring different ways to sell tickets. They are going to use Yahoo Auction to sell ten seats a game: Coca Cola Seat A (two seats), Sanku Home Run Terrace Table Seat (four seats), Hawks Cheer Seat (two seats), and Recaro Stadium Seat tickets (two seats). They are planning to use a variable pricing system for a number of ticket types, like Mizuho Premium Seat A, A Reserved, Hawks Cheer Seat, after May. Source: official announcement
  • The Hawks signed a team sponsorship deal with Huawei Japan. The Huawei logo will appear on the right side of the team's player caps this season. Source: official announcement

  • Hideki Kuriyama, Dai-kan Yoh, Kensuke Tanaka, Sho Nakata, and Haruki Nishikawa will once again be Akaihane Supporters this season. Kuriyama will donate 2,000 yen for every victory and 1,000 yen for every shutout vitory; Yoh, Tanaka, and Nishikawa will donate 2,000 yen for every hit and 1,000 yen for every stolen base; and Nakata will donate 2,000 yen for every hit and 1,000 yen for every home run. Seibu Lions

  • Takumi Kuriyama will donate 10,000 yen to an education fund for children affected by the Tohoku earthquake for every hit he records this season. He will also continue to support children with cancer and their families by inviting them to games and donating needed equipment to pediatric wards. Ginjiro Sumitani will donate 10,000 yen to a fund that helps children with incurable diseases for every game he starts as a catcher. Kuriyama and Sumitani will also invite children with disabilities and their families to home games. Shogo Akiyama will invite single-parent families to home games. [3/23/2016] Softbank Hawks: Taka-no Saiten 2016 Uniforms

The Softbank Hawks unveiled their Taka-no Saiten 2016 uniforms on March 23. Tsuyoshi Wada and Yuya Hasegawa modeled the uniforms for the press. The team will wear the uniform during fourteen home games between June 27 and August 18 (including eight Taka-no Saiten games).

The official name for the design is Champion Blue 2016. The colors are based on the 2015 Nippon Series Champions pennant and represents the team's desire to win a third straight championship.

Taka-no Saiten 2016:

  • June 27 at Tokyo Dome
  • July 18-19 at YafuOku Dome
  • July 20 at Kitakyushu
  • July 22-24 at YafuOku Dome
  • August 18 at Kyocera Dome

Replica uniforms will be given away to fans that attend Taka-no Saiten games (does not include visiting team cheer seat ticket holders).

  • Third round draft pick Eigoro Mogi hit home runs in back-to-back at bats against Orix on March 16 -- he hit a solo home run to left in the second and a solo home run to right in the fourth. He joined Kyosuke Sasaki (March 29, 1972), Yoshito Oda (March 15, 1973), Yoshihiro Suzuki (March 11, 1989), and Shinji Shimoyama (February 23, 2003) as the only players since the start of the draft to hit two home runs in one exhibition game during their first year in the NPB. He tossed three innings, faced fifteen hitters (combination of Kentaro Enomoto and Taisei Makihara), threw sixty-two pitches, allowed four hits, walked one, struck out one, and topped out at 143km/h.
