Hideki Matsui gets some stamp lovin’

If Ichiro Suzuki can get a bunch of stamps, why not Godzilla?

Ah, but he will.

The Matsui Hideki Baseball Museum will be selling a set of limited edition Hideki Matsui stamps commemorating...  um... well, I'm not entirely sure.  I suppose if he somehow makes it to 30 home runs this year, it might commemorate that.

What, no action shots?

What, no action shots? (80yen set)

Anyway, the set will come in both 80yen and 50yen packs of 10.  There is not set date for when they will become available, but Sponichi does note that it'll probably be sometime later this month.

Incidentally, what's up with these stamp images?  I know Matsui tends to be conservative, but this is just ridiculous.  The only thing that connects Matsui to baseball in these stamps is that bat lifelessly resting on his left shoulder.  Come on, maybe you could at least use an image of him mock-swinging the bat?

This will mark the second time Matsui has appeared on a stamp (the first time was 5 years ago to commemorate his 31 home runs in the Majors).
