[7/2/2014] Chiba Lotte Marines: Takashi Ogino has left shoulder surgery

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced that Takashi Ogino had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder.  There were no complications during the procedure.  He will begin a rehab program on Thursday.  He is slated to remain in the hospital for two to three weeks and will most likely require five to six months for a full recovery.

[6/27/2014] Chiba Lotte Marines: Takashi Ogino needs shoulder surgery

The Chiba Lotte Marines announced today that Takashi Ogino will needs surgery on his left shoulder to treat a scapular fracture (glenoid).  The procedure will be performed at a hospital in Kanagawa on July 2.  Tsutomu Ito offered reporters an estimation of five to six months for a full recovery.  The team will know more after the surgery.

[6/23/2014] Chiba Lotte Marines: Takashi Ogino has fracture in left shoulder

Takashi Ogino hurt his left shoulder while sliding into home plate in the 1st inning of Sunday's game against Chunichi.  He was removed from the game on defense in the 5th.  He was examined at a hospital on Monday and diagnosed with a glenoid fracture.  It is unknown how much time he will require for a full recovery.  He will be able to begin rehab after he has had the shoulder immobile for about two weeks.

  • Yasuyuki Kataoka was replaced by a pinch-hitter in the 3rd inning of Sunday's exhibition game against Nippon Ham as a precaution because of tightness near the base of the back of his left thigh.  Source: Sponichi 3/23/2014

Yomiuri Giants

  • Shinnosuke Abe started having problems with his neck on the 13th.  A Lotte game scheduled on that day was canceled because of rain.  He worked out separately from the rest of the team.  He managed to play in a Softbank game on the 15th with his neck taped, but the pain got worse.  He was allowed to leave early on Tuesday (he did not play in the Seibu game) and was examined at a hospital.  There are some concerns he might not be ready in time for opening day.  Source: Sponichi 3/19/2014
  • Abe and Shuichi Murata (cut on left index finger) worked out at Tokyo Dome on Wednesday.  Both are hoping to be ready for opening day.  Source: Sponichi 3/19/2014

Hanshin Tigers

  • Tsuyoshi Nishioka did not play in Tuesday's practice game against Yakult and instead returned to Osaka to get treatment for his back tightness. Source: Daily Sports 3/19/2014 ...   • Toshiaki Imae was examined at a hospital in Tokyo and diagnosed with an inflammation in his left calf.  He will require five to ten days for a full recovery.  He will begin his rehab at Ni-gun.  Shota Omine will be called up to take his place.  Source: Sponichi 3/16/2014, Sports Hochi 3/16/2014
  • Takashi Ogino got an MRI on his right knee on Saturday.  There was fluid build-up in the knee and no problems with the meniscus.  Source: Sanspo 3/16/2014

  • Takeya Nakamura (left side) could get one at bat as a pinch-hitter in an exhibition game against Yomiuri at Seibu Dome on the 18th.  Assuming no problems, he should get more playing time over the last three exhibition games of the pre-season, beginning on the 21st against Lotte.  If he wants extra work, he could also play in up to two games at Ni-gun (25th and 26th).  Source: Nikkan Sports 3/15/2014, Sports Hochi 3/15/2014 ... Shota Dobayashi (fracture in third metacarpal in left hand) played in a rehab practice game against Softbank on Tuesday.  It was his first game since he suffered his injury.  He went 0-for-3.

Ryota Arai took an HBP off the back of his left hand during his at bat in the 6th inning of Tuesday's game against the Chunichi Dragons.  He was replaced by a pinch-runner and sent to the hospital for an examination.

Nyjer Morgan suffered a bruise on his right wrist after taking an HBP off of it during a game against Yakult on September 19.  He was taken off the active roster on September 21.

Morgan left Japan out of Narita Airport earlier today.  Before leaving, he told reporters he would like to return to Yokohama next year.
