The Ni-gun Swallows have the day off tomorrow.

Today's practice game against Fujii Juko (Industrial League) was canceled due to rain.

The team still has no timetable on when Kyohei Muranaka will pitch in a game.  Muranaka complained of tightness in his body during the previous block of spring camp and has been taking things slow since.

Muranaka did tell reporters on Wednesday that he planned to toss a bullpen session soon and that he was feeling ok.  Junji Ogawa was in no real rush and simply said he would be ok so long as Muranaka pitched in a game sometime during Urasoe camp.

Through Wednesday, Tetsuto Yamada is 9-for-27 with six RBI over seven games.

Masanori Ishikawa threw 158 pitches in the bullpen today.  Ishikawa actually had to cut the session short because of a blister on his right big toe.

The media learned yesterday that Tetsuto Yamada (1st round), Nariaki Kawasaki (6th round) and a number of other rookies will be joining the Ichi-gun group for practice today and on the 9th (Ni-gun day off).  They will also have a chance to play in the two intra-squad practice games scheduled on 2/11 and 2/12.  The Swallows are planning on promoting up to 4-5 players based on the results of the two games and some of the players could end up being in that group.

During BP yesterday, Yamada took 26 swings and hit 3 over the fence.

Yuki Shichijo (2nd round) went site-seeing around Urasoe, Okinawa by himself on his day-off yesterday.  He visited a shrimp farm and also dropped by Blue Seal Ice Cream, where he got the owner to agree to add a Shichijo Parfait to the menu if he wins the RoY award this year.
