The NPB held an executive committee meeting today in Tokyo.  A number of issues were discussed, including (but not limited to):

  • the length of the Inter-league schedule.  A decision could not be reached during the meeting.  Discussions will continue with a committee made up of officials from both leagues.  The same committee will also be in charge of Samurai Japan.
  • the Phoenix League schedule.  The fall league will take place between October 7 and 28.
  • the average length of a nine inning game this season is about three hours and fifteen minutes.  The average has increased and the NPB is planning to ask teams to get coaches and players to push harder for shorter games.
