  • Tatsuro Hamada was taken out of Tuesday's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars after throwing just eleven pitches because of discomfort in his left elbow. He was taken to a hospital during the game and will get additional tests on Wednesday. Source: Sports Hochi 8/26/2014, Sponichi 8/26/2014

Yakult Swallows

Chiba Lotte Marines

  • Shoichi Ino developed a cramp in his right calf during the 6th inning of Friday's game against the Yakult Swallows.  Ino told reporters on Saturday his leg was fine and that he did not expect to miss his next start.   • Wladimir Balentien took a ball hit by Taketoshi Goto off his chest while playing defense in the 4th inning of Saturday's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars.  He as removed from the game after the 5th and taken to the hospital for tests.  He was diagnosed with a bruise on his left chest.  He might be taken off the active roster if he is unable to play on Sunday.   • Ryosuke Hirata (left ankle) took batting practice at Nagoya Stadium on Thursday.  He faced three different pitchers and recorded four could-be hits. He could play in his first rehab game some time before the end of the month. Source: Nikkan Sports 7/24/2014
  • Kazuki Yoshimi was taken off the active roster on Thursday with some inflammation in his right elbow.  Yoshimi started feeling tightness in the elbow during his last start on the 23rd.  He was examined at a hospital on Thursday and diagnosed with inflammation.  There were no other abnormalities.  For now, the Dragons plan to skip him once in the starting rotation. Yakult Swallows

  • Wladimir Balentien missed Tuesday's game with pain in his left wrist.  He was examined at a hospital on Wednesday morning.  No abnormalities were found.  He still had some pain in the wrist, but was able to play on Wednesday and hit his first home run since May 31.   • Yoshiyuki Kamei returned to the starting line-up on Monday for the first time in six games.  Kamei was apparently having problems with tightness in his right calf. Source: Sponichi 7/22/2014

  • Kazuhiro Wada took an HBP off the left side of his head during Monday's game against Yokohama.  Tests at a hospital did not reveal any abnormalities.  He did participate in pre-game warm-ups on Tuesday, but did not take part in other workouts like batting practice.  Yokohama's Shun Yamaguchi briefly met with Wada before the game to apologize for the pitch he threw.  He did not play on Tuesday and instead rested.  He is considered day-to-day.   • 1st round draft pick Ayumu Ishikawa left Monday's game against Softbank after seven innings because he developed a cramp in his right thumb while throwing practice pitches before the start of the 8th inning (he had a hard time straightening the thumb out).   • Katsuya Kakunaka was taken off the active roster on Monday with lower back pain.  The Marines have not yet set a timetable for his return. Source: Sponichi 7/14/2014

Nippon Ham Fighters

  • Sho Nakata was replaced by a pinch-runner in Sunday's game against Softbank because of concerns with his left knee.  Nakata has been used as a designated hitter ever since he took an HBP off the knee during a game against Lotte on the 6th.  The knee had to be drained because the swelling was not going away.  He is a question mark for Tuesday's game against Seibu.   • Ryuji Ichioka (right shoulder) is currently scheduled to participate in the All-Star Series.  Pitching coach Yasuyuki Yamauchi told reporters Ichioka's shoulder was now fine. Source: Daily Sports 7/12/2014

  • Shoichi Ino left Friday's game against Yakult after five innings of work because of tightness in his back.  He told reporters he should be okay for the All-Star Series. Kiyoshi Nakahata spoke to reporters on Saturday and said Ino was fine and that his back was feeling better than on Friday.  Ino was taken off the active roster on Saturday, but only because he is not scheduled to get another start before the All-Star break.   • Yoshinori Sato (right shoulder) started a Ni-gun rehab game against Yokohama on Saturday.  He gave up a run on three hits over three innings of work.  He topped out at 149km/h and struck out two.  The one run he allowed scored in the 1st inning.  He retired the side in order in the 2nd and 3rd.   • Wladimir Balentien (left Achilles tendon) played in a Ni-gun rehab game against Yokohama on Saturday.  He got the start in left and batted third.  He went 1-for-3: G6(DP), E6, and a solo home run off Yuta Kakita in the 5th.  His day ended after the 5th.  Junji Ogawa told reporters he planned to call Balentien up on Sunday. Yomiuri Giants

  • Kyosuke Takagi was involved in a car accident on Friday and suffered a bruise on his right arm.  The incident took place at 6:55am on a road in Kawasaki, Kanagawa.  Takagi was on his way to practices at Giants Stadium when an oncoming car suddenly swerved into his lane.  The driver in the other car told police he turned the steering wheel to avoid a car that was trying to merge into his lane in front of him.  The driver was not hurt.   • Masahiro Araki (right index finger) played in a Ni-gun rehab game against Hanshin on Friday.  He got the start at second and batted second.  He went 1-for-1: doubled to left in the 1st and walked in the 2nd.  This was his first rehab game. Source: Sanspo 7/11/2014

Yokohama Bay Stars

Yakult Swallows

  • Wladimir Balentien (left Achilles tendon) played in his first Ni-gun rehab game on Friday.  He was the starting designated hitter against Yokohama and batted third.  He went 2-for-2: infield single in the 1st, single to center in the 4th.  He was replaced by a pinch-runner in the 4th.  It was his first game since June 13.  He will get three at bats and the start in left during Saturday's Ni-gun game against Yokohama.  If everything is okay, he could join the Ichi-gun team on the 13th.   • Itaru Hashimoto (left thigh) played in a Ni-gun rehab game against Lotte on Tuesday.  He got the start in center and batted third.  He went 3-for-5 with three RBI.  He told reporters he was at about ninety percent. Source: Nikkan Sports 7/8/2014

  • Tsuyoshi Nishioka (right elbow) could return to the starting line-up on the 10th against the Hiroshima Carp at Koshien. Source: Sports Hochi 7/8/2014

  • 1st round draft pick Daichi Osera took a batted ball off his right hand during Tuesday's game against Hanshin.  With a runner on first and one out, Yamato hit a ball back to the mound that hit Osera near the base of the thumb and index finger.  He was removed from the game as a precaution.
