[10/28/2013] Zach Phillips agrees to a one-year deal with the Hiroshima Carp

The Hiroshima Carp have reportedly signed left-handed pitcher Zach Phillips (27) to a one-year contract worth an estimated forty million yen plus incentives.  The deal also includes a fifteen million yen signing bonus and a club option for 2015.

According to Sponichi, part of the reason why the Carp did not to select any Ichi-gun-ready left-handed arms during the draft was because they were close to finalizing their deal with Phillips.  The organization sees the lefty as a set-up man, or depending on situations, a closer.
